Full-Time

Equipment Rentals Manager

DCTV seeks a full-time Equipment Rentals Manager to join our team, managing our production equipment inventory for external rentals and in-house workshops/events. Candidate must have significant production experience, possess a working knowledge of digital filmmaking equipment and software, and be dedicated to helping DCTV strengthen its mission and serve NYC’s independent filmmaking community. Compensation commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with health benefits, paid vacation, and retirement plan opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all day-to-day operations of Equipment Rentals, including fulfilling client transactions and providing professional customer service to all related inquiries while maintaining accurate records
  • Oversee and perform daily maintenance, repairs, and purchases of equipment inventory
  • Identify needs and research new database systems, workflow, and inventory
  • Delegate duties to and supervise T&R Associates/Interns
  • Work with Director of Public Programs to foster new partnerships, member benefits & outreach initiatives
  • Oversee the collection and reporting of relevant analytical data
  • Manage production equipment needs for in-house Workshops, DCTV Presents, and Facility Rentals
  • Check out supplemental equipment to Broadcast as necessary, track usage
  • Update and maintain accurate equipment inventory, track whereabouts/provisioning
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of all production equipment
  • Execute and process purchases of new equipment and all needed supplies/expendables
  • Co-supervise interns regarding equipment-related tasks
  • Provide customer service to walk-ins and phone customers, carrying out workshop and membership registration and transactions
  • Provide all equipment for daily Workshops
  • Together with the Technical Director, identify equipment needs and plan for upgrades and additions to inventory including:
    • Provide cost/benefit analyses for suggested new purchases, especially showing how and when cost can be recouped
    • Research new systems, workflow, and inventory management systems and resources where possible
    • Research competition and present periodic reports to Technical Director as needed
  • As a member of the technical team, may also be called upon as needed to help with:
    • Running of A/V and lighting equipment and general setup for events
    • Testing, calibrating and running sound and picture for optimal quality playback
    • Handling print traffic and the QCing of files
    • Updating technical and how-to guides and documenting event run-of-show practices
    • Training of other A/V techs

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in production, and proficient knowledge of digital filmmaking equipment and software
  • Customer service experience, with an engaging presence and ability to serve a diverse clientele
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

Workshops Manager

DCTV seeks a full-time Workshops Manager to spearhead our adult Workshops, Membership, and Internship programs. Candidate must have significant experience in and a deep commitment to media education, possess a working knowledge of digital filmmaking equipment and software, and be dedicated to helping DCTV strengthen innovative and educational programming to fulfill our mission and serve NYC’s independent filmmaking community. This is a full-time Mon-Fri position with health benefits, paid vacation, and retirement plan opportunities, and reports directly to our Director of Public Programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administer and ensure the highest standards for all day-to-day Workshops program needs, including registration and operations
  • Continue to maintain and develop distinctive Workshops curriculum
  • Facilitate the scheduling and workflow of all Workshops
  • Recruit, schedule, manage, and cultivate existing network of freelance instructors
  • Monitor Workshops classrooms, media, equipment and materials and identify needs for improvement
  • Manage all aspects of the Internship program including outreach and placement
  • Oversee all aspects of Membership including correspondence and database upkeep
  • Enhance assessment tools, evaluations, budgeting, and reporting
  • Supervise T&R Associates/Interns with position-related tasks
  • Collaborate with Director of Public Programs to foster new partnerships, member benefits, strategic outreach & programmatic initiatives
  • Provide support in producing public events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience working in media education or a relevant community-based position
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and project management skills
  • Possess a working knowledge of digital filmmaking equipment and software
  • Customer service experience, with engaging presence and ability to serve a diverse clientele
  • Strong understanding and sensibility for NYC's independent filmmaking landscape
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, thorough, and deadline driven
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize in multi-faceted environment
  • Ability to work independently and be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Fosters a supportive, accountable and fun work environment
  • Proficient with Macs, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, FileMaker Pro

Freelance

Workshop Instructors

DCTV is always seeking freelance instructors on a rolling basis for our hands-on adult workshops in Graphic & Web Design, Producing, Video Production, and Video Post-Production. Please learn more about our Workshops here.

Qualifications: All applicants must be working professionals with teaching experience, able to give our students an in-depth introduction to the industry’s leading software and technology. Applicants without any teaching experience will not be considered.
