15: A Quinceañera Story Premieres on HBO

by Rachel Baron | December 19th, 2017

“They come from different backgrounds, different places, different passions and different personal stories. What unites them is the honoring of their community and their culture."
    – Director Matt O’Neill in Los Angeles Times

What began as a feature-length film exploration into the world of Quinceañeras by DCTV Producer/Director Matt O’Neill evolved into four short, character-driven docs about the experience of coming of age in the contemporary Latino community. Five young women, each with a story to tell, take the spotlight.

Said O’Neill: “...we found so many incredible young women that it became four short films. People too often think of the Latino community as monolithic; in these films, you see five young women who are fierce and dynamic in such different ways.”

Zoey, a young Mexican-American living south of Los Angeles, who was assigned a male gender at birth will kick off the premieres on Tuesday 12/19 at 7pm.
