‘Tis the season when all outdoor activities require 3+ layers. All the more reason to stay inside and learn something new! Read up on what’s coming to DCTV Workshops this year and snag a toasty warm workshop to polish your filmmaking skills or build some new ones.

This season, we invite you to explore the capabilities of products from Blackmagic Design in Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro and DaVinci Resolve: Editing. The former will be taught by Patrick Reis, a veteran DCTV instructor who has shot for national brands, including ESPN, Nickelodeon and Fox Sports. This workshop is a great way to get a hands-on introduction to our newest camera, used in Digital Cinematography and Docu Intensive. DaVinci Resolve: Editing is a refreshing option for someone on a budget who has thought about starting to edit or switching their NLE software—it’s free software has most of the features of the Studio version!

In addition to Davinci Resolve, we have several new post-production workshops this season. Trailer Editing and After Effects: Film Title Design will help your film make the right first impression. Premiere: Intermediate delves further into Adobe’s NLE.

And Stop Motion Animation returns to the Workshops roster! This comprehensive workshop covers pre-production, production, and post-production with a focus on handmade animation methods. Here’s your chance to familiarize yourself with an increasingly popular filmmaking medium.

If the tax code overhaul has you feeling anxious, our Freelancer Tax Clinic is here to give you some peace of mind. Trusty instructor, Hannah Jayanti, who recently won a NYSCA/NYFA grant, will be teaching Art of the Interview. Interviews are the backbone of nonfiction storytelling and this workshop prepares you to manage the technical logistics of an on-camera interview with confidence. Emile Klein, long-time DCTV instructor rejoins us after his big move to the West Coast. Klein has worked on podcasts and radio pieces for NPR, Panoply, and more. He leads the upcoming Audio Fundamentals workshop.

Stay tuned for more Winter/Spring ‘19 announcements. We hope to have you around the firehouse soon!
