DCTV Program Alum Nominated for Emmys

We're beaming. Two DCTV program alum were nominated for Emmys yesterday!

Bing Liu's Oscar-nominated Minding the Gap (DocuClub NY '16) and Lisa D’Apolito's Love, Gilda (DCTV Work-In-Progress Lab '16) were both nominated for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special. Love, Gilda was also nominated for Outstanding Music Composition For A Documentary Series or Special.

Both of these films were workshopped at DCTV in their early stages, and while awards are by no means the only measure of success, we're so honored to see these talented filmmakers and their undaunted work recognized. We couldn't be more proud!

We checked in with D’Apolito shortly after she completed the DCTV Work-In-Progress Lab and she had this to say: “Though I have 20 years experience in production and directing, Love, Gilda is my first feature documentary. It was an incredible experience and so beneficial to be with other filmmakers, to see their films and see what they saw in mine.”

Congrats to all our many friends of the firehouse and documentary community who were nominated and best of luck! See all nominees here.
