2020 *Unrelenting* Year in Review

December 30th, 2020

Dear filmmakers, friends and supporters,

Who knew what we could cram into a calendar year? In the midst of our immense losses and our hard-won gains, we at DCTV hope that you’ve been buoyed by the small slice of normalcy we’ve tried to maintain for our filmmaking community. We are so proud to serve you, and to call you our friends.

Here are a few highlights from this year:

  • Our proudest achievement was a lack of interruption in our programs, pivoting them all safely online.
  • DCTV Youth Media supported 52 films made by students, including award-winning and soon-to-be-broadcast documentaries about the most crucial issues of our time.
  • We offered 100+ Continuing Education workshops on all facets of filmmaking plus our first work-in-progress lab dedicated to short documentary films.
  • We presented 30+ public film screenings, director Q&As, and timely panel discussions through DCTV Presents, and made decades of our very own documentaries available on-demand.
  • DCTV Productions created more original productions in one year than ever before, which included the premieres of the six-part documentary series On Pointe on Disney+, Crescendo! at Tribeca Film Festival, Raising Baby Grey with The New Yorker, and 20 episodes of the most-watched season of Axios on HBO to date.

We couldn’t have done all this without you and your unwavering support. It’s not too late to give to DCTV this year! Donate by tomorrow, December 31st, and your dollars will help fund another vital year of invaluable filmmaking programs.

Happy new year,

Stephanie Skaff
DCTV Development Director
