Since opening its doors in 1972, DCTV has cultivated a diverse and inclusive media arts community by providing renowned free youth programming, affordable workshops, production equipment rentals, post- production facilities, a signature screening series, and more. Since its inception, DCTV has created Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning documentary productions that reach millions of viewers each year on HBO, ESPN, PBS, and other outlets. As the most honored non-profit media arts center in the nation, DCTV is the premiere resource for New York City’s indie filmmaking community.
And DCTV is still advancing opportunities for independent film!
In Spring 2014, DCTV will break ground on a new state-of-the-art, public, fully-interactive, digital cinema, a venue devoted year-round to “all documentaries, all the time.” In New York City, considered the world’s capital for documentary filmmaking, the DCTV Cinema will be an Academy- qualifying screening room and assembly/symposia space where established, emerging media artists and audiences interact. DCTV has several Cinema sponsorships available, including naming rights to the Cinema and lobby gallery space, and is happy to tailor them to your organization or individual needs.
