El Espiritu de la Salsa at Tribeca

A new HBO documentary, produced in part at DCTV, premieres at this year's Tribeca Film Festival and it's kicking off with a gala event like no other.
In El Espíritu de la Salsa, lonely hearts from all over New York City come together at Spanish Harlem’s Santo Rico Dance School to let loose, dance and connect while learning the rich art of salsa. DCTV is proud to be part of the film and invites you to attend the World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this Thursday (4/22) night!
It's free and features live salsa bands, local dancers and salsa pros will come together to strut their stuff for a night of salsa under the stars. Movie-goers will enjoy salsa lessons, dance contests and percussive revelry for all ages.
Doors open at 6pm and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All pre-screening activities will begin at 6 pm with film screenings starting at sundown, around 8 pm. More information at tribecafilm.com.
El Espíritu de la Salsa follows an E.R. Doctor from Battery Park, a Construction Contractor from Queens, an Equities Trader from Wall Street, a Policeman from Midtown, to a Chronic Fatigue Sufferer from Washington Heights, among others – as they meet in Spanish Harlem once a week at Santo Rico Dance School, where they learn the rich art of salsa. Under the tutelage of teacher Tomas Guerrero, they have only six weeks to rehearse for a public performance. Featuring music by Tito Puente, Eddie Santiago, Norah Jones, and more.
