Join us as we take a look back for our annual "best of" screening, highlighting exceptional youth media work that undeniably demonstrates the power of visual storytelling. Many of the filmmakers will be in attendance and join us for a Post-Screening Q&A.

Marilia, an elderly Brazilian immigrant in NYC, is just starting to claim her independence at the age of 72. After her fair share of sacrifices and hardships, mostly for her late husband who made a life for himself while leaving her with nothing, Marilia works towards autonomy through her resiliency. She discusses both the control she wants over her life versus society’s desire to control her, manifested through one example: her hair.
