While we understand that social media isn’t everyone’s forte, it’s impossible to deny that it isn’t a fundamental component of marketing an audience building today. The role social media plays for film and filmmakers in this production and distribution landscape will only grow. In this Industry Connect panel presented by IFP, Film Presence and DCTV, we invite you to learn some of the practical, attainable and necessary applications of social media for the filmmaker who is sick of hearing… “What? You’re not on twitter yet!?”
It’s time to seize the opportunity and take advantage of these tools that are just a few clicks away.
We’ll consider the following crucial components and stages for social media:

  • Getting Started
  • Crowdfunding
  • Distribution / Digital Platforms
  • Call to Action / Transmedia
  • Tumblr, Blogs, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest...

Moderated by Sara Kiener, co-founder of Film Presence, this panel will include Crowdfunding expert Elisabeth Holm of Kickstarter, filmmaker and DIY-distributor extraordinaire, Gary Hustwit (Helvetica, Urbanized), Julie La'Bassier of FilmBuff (The Way, Exit Through the Gift Shop), and Mike Knowlton of and Murmur.

Open to DCTV Members only, for free! RSVP is required to with your first and last name. Please note: This event has limited capacity. All RSVP’s are first-come, first-served. And if you're not already a DCTV Member, it's not too late, and it's only $25!

Upcoming Industry Connect events will highlight various aspects of independent filmmaking as most requested by IFP members, including social media, fundraising, and the ins-and-outs of the film festival circuit.
