DCTV, 87 Lafayette Street, NYC

Miranda July is a jack of all creative trades – an award-winning performance artist, musician, writer, actress and film director.

Join us, as we devote a night to screening several of her short films – the ones she made after experimental recordings on the Kill Rock Stars label, and before she became indie cinema’s darling for her Independent Spirit winning feature, Me and You and Everyone We Know.

And as we watch these short films, Sweet Tooth of the Tiger, a renegade bakery project, will be on hand to add in the fun with their sugary confections.

Short films and cupcakes both made with the finest DIY ingredients…does life get better than this? Yum.

About Miranda July:
Miranda July makes movies, performances, recordings and combinations of these things. Several of her short films have been screened internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim. Her works have been included in both the 2002 and 2004 Whitney Biennials, and her multi-media performances have been presented at venues such as the Institute of Contemporary Art in London and The Kitchen in New York. July's stories can be read in The Paris Review and The Harvard Review and her radio performances can be heard regularly on NPR's The Next Big Thing. July's first feature-length film, Me and You and Everyone We Know (IFC Films / FilmFour) premiered in January 2005 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received a special jury prize for originality of vision. It debuted internationally at the Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded with four prizes, including the Camera d'Or. The movie has since been released theatrically to critical acclaim.
