DCTV maintains a successful studio that both anticipates and creatively uses rapid changes taking place in electronic media arts.
DCTV's productions are broadcast live to 500,000 homes through Manhattan
Neighborhood Network while simultaneously streaming on the Internet. Using innovative technology, Cyberstudio audience members and
artists can interact, bridging the digital divide and engaging viewers in civic dialogue.
In previous seasons, DCTV has produced and aired numerous live and taped shows including Live From Downtown, a variety talk show about the downtown performing arts scene featuring performances by the brightest, boldest, and best downtown performers; and IMNY, a journalistic adventure for and by the youth of New York, exploring the unique stories, neighborhoods and challenges of New York City's young people through a combination of first-person narrative documentaries and interactive conversations between the youth of New York and relevant civic, political and social leaders. Live From Downtown has featured artists ranging from Pulitzer Prize-winning composers and Obie Award-winning avant-garde acting companies to bar-bands from Brooklyn, gaining a sizeable cult following in New York City and beyond. IMNY is produced by DCTV for broadcast to 16 million metro-area homes on WNYE, New York City Board of Education’s television station. This 26-week series of half hour programs was the recipient of three New York Emmys in 2004.
