THE ROAD HOME
Dir. Phil Hopper – Prod. Andrew Tilson
The Road Home is a powerful story of the human cost of war. Follow a small group of America’s newest war heroes on the road to rehabilitation after suffering debilitating injuries in the line of duty. From Walter Reed Medical Center to participating in the New York City Marathon with the Achilles Track Club, this film documents their real-life struggle to find The Road Home.

Phil Hopper and Andrew Tilson came to DCTV to begin post-production on their feature documentary in October 2006. And it was only appropriate that they work in the same Edit Suite where months earlier DCTV’s Jon Alpert crafted the award-winning documentary Baghdad ER. They have been in that Edit Suite for the past 7 months, and the film they have emerged with picks up where Baghdad ER left off; with the long journey to rehabilitation for American war-wounded back in the United States.

DCTV is thrilled to showcase The Road Home as a Made@DCTV screening event. It documents an aspect of war both heart-breaking and inspiring, and creates a dialogue about war that reaches across so-called “Red-State/Blue-State” lines. Join the team behind the film as we screen a fine cut of this important work edited entirely at DCTV.

DCTV Presents is our screening and event series that highlights significant and innovative work from the independent filmmaking community. As part of this series, Made @ DCTV showcases work which used DCTV as a filmmaking resource.

Phil Hopper & Andrew Tilson made their film. Their story will help you make yours.
