JUNE 8th at DCTV

Join us for a one-on-one, in-depth conversation about the nitty gritty work that goes into producing successful independent documentaries with one of the most impressive doc filmmakers of all time: AMY SEWELL, Writer and Producer of the smash hit film, MAD HOT BALLROOM.

Using her new book, The Mad Hot Adventures of an Unlikely Documentary Filmmaker as a roadmap, Amy will guide us through the process of making MAD HOT BALLROOM from the original idea to shooting the movie and selling it to Paramount. She will give us the inside scoop on what it takes to turn your original story into a movie that makes a major impression in the marketplace. From sales agents to film festivals, from budgets to timelines, from lawyers to music rights, Amy will share lessons learned and the secrets to her success.

Each member of the audience will receive a copy of Amy’s new book. After the Q&A there will be a book signing!

About Amy Sewell: Amy is following up the amazing success of her first film, MAD HOT BALLROOM, with the upcoming television sitcom called MOMMY JUICE, and a new documentary, which she plans to release in 2008. She lives in New York City.
