In 1972, DCTV was founded to strengthen our democracy by providing the community with access to that most powerful of persuaders – moving image media. DCTV began to offer low-cost media training and access to technology to anyone with a story to tell or a cause to illuminate. For over 40 years DCTV has done just that – training thousands of media artists and youth on state-of-the-industry video equipment and providing discounted rentals of video production equipment, post-production facilities, and a production studio/screening room. DCTV has also served general audiences by conducting public screenings of exemplary documentary and non-fiction media and offering Master Classes led by film artists. Each year over 15,000 access DCTV’s media arts programs and services.
