Anna Barsan is an NYC-based film director, producer, and media educator. Rooted in a documentary practice, her work explores themes of identity, sexuality, memory, and political history. As a media educator, Barsan travels nationally and internationally to facilitate media literacy and advocacy workshops for journalists, educators, and political actors. She holds an M.A. in film and new media studies from The New School and a B.A. in international relations and global media studies from the University of Michigan. Barsan's work has been featured at The Guggenheim Lab, The Brooklyn Museum, the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center, La Mama Galleria, the Leslie-Lohman Gallery, as well as on Showtime, Telesur, The Huffington Post, The Nation, The Feminist Wire, BuzzFeed, and Upworthy. Barsan is the co-creator/co-founder of Signified, a documentary series and digital archive of LGBTQ testimony and the supervising producer for The Laura Flanders Show.
