Allison Steinberg is a Communications Strategist at the American Civil Liberties Union where she works on the most pressing civil rights issues of our time. Prior to her tenure at the ACLU, Allison served as Communications Director at the Empire State Pride Agenda, New York's LGBT advocacy org; and as Spokesperson at JetBlue, where she managed daily media relations and social media strategy for the New York-based airline, including the creation and managements of the company blog, BlueTales. Preceding that, she worked as Associate Publisher of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, and at GO Magazine and Dyke TV. Allison has spent more than a decade as a journalist in New York City. She has written for Slate, Conde Nast Traveler, Refinery29, Huffington Post, New York Magazine, The Village Voice, Gothamist, DNAInfo, Time Out New York, The Advocate and Curve Magazine among other outlets; and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, BusinessWeek, CNN and The Dallas Morning News, to name a few. Allison earned a B.A. in Media Studies and an M.F.A. in Integrated Media Arts from CUNY Hunter College, where she now teaches Communications Strategy.
