Chris Rogy is a New York based experimental and documentary filmmaker. He is a 2013 US Fulbright Fellow to Cambodia who led a rural project that trained volunteers to develop their own LPFM transmitted, radio soap operas for social change. Also, while in Cambodia, Chris directed a short experimental film, SajakThor, that reflects on the country’s post-election violence that same year. It has since premiered at the Video Art and Experimental Film Festival in NYC (2014) and continues to screen at festivals like Cucalorus in Wilmington, NC. In 2014, Chris joined NJ Spark to train senior undergrads of the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University who are developing short documentaries for online distribution. The course gives students an opportunity to engage marginalized communities off campus, create humanizing, untold stories and distribute them in a unique online platform. Chris is also a core member of The Illuminator art collective, a group that works to shine a light on the urgent issues of our time through interactive projections in public spaces. This past year, Chris has worked with The Illuminator to train guerrilla projection for participants at the Allied Media Conference in Detroit and activists at Greenpeace’s creative laboratory outside DC.
