Deirdre Fishel has been a writer/director of both documentaries and dramas for twenty years. Her documentary CARE, in production, just received a 2014 MacArthur Grant and will participate at GOOD PITCH New york in June. Her dramatic feature RISK, premiered in competition at Sundance, was broadcast on the Sundance channel and had a theatrical, as well as a wide video and international television release.
 Her documentary,STILL DOING IT:The Intimate Lives of Women Over 65 premiered at SXSW, was licensed for broadcast in fifteen countries and was expanded into a book (Penguin 2008) co-written with Diana Holtzberg. Recent projects also include SUICIDE ON CAMPUS, produced with The New York Times Magazine and THE BOY GAME, a transmedia project, distributed by New Day Films.

Deirdre has a degree in history and semiotics from Brown University, will receive an MFA in Integrated Media Arts in May and is on the faculty of the New School.
