Jay Sterrenberg

Jay Arthur Sterrenberg is a New York based filmmaker, editor and educator with over a dozen years experience whose work has appeared on HBO, Arte, ESPN and PBS. He's had the opportunity to work in post-production on a range of social issue feature documentaries such as King Corn (Independent Lens, 2008), Emmy Nominated Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery (HBO, 2008), Emmy Nominated Good Fortune (POV, 2010), and as a lead editor for Wartorn 1861-2010, (HBO, 2010) an in-depth look at Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the American Military which had it's world premiere at the Pentagon and was awarded a special honor recognizing "television with a conscience" by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. 

Jay is a co-founder of the Meerkat Media Collective, an award winning interdisciplinary collection of artists who prioritize shared authorship and skillsharing within their creative process. He edited, co-shot and co-directed the collectives first feature length documentary Stages which won Best Documentary and the Audience Award when it premiered at the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. He's also one of the directors, producers, cinematographers and lead editors for their upcoming feature documentary Brasslands which has been featured as a work-in-progress by Rooftop Films, IFP's Spotlight on Documentaries and the Paley Center Doc Fest.

Jay is also a proud member-owner of New Day Films, the world's longest running filmmaker owned and run distribution coop.
