Jessye Herrell is a Photographer and Media Arts Educator living in Brooklyn, NY. With a background in film production and a strong belief in the importance of arts education, she splits her time between shooting and teaching. Her experience on-set, largely as a Camera Assistant and Stills Photographer, includes work with both 16mm and 35mm film, as well as digital media, on projects ranging from independent shorts, features, and series to commercials and promotional photography. Additionally, she spent a year bolstering her knowledge of photographic process and history while organizing educational workshops at the Center for Alternative Photography. Her work has been exhibited at the Bushwick Community Darkroom, Morgan Avenue Underground, UnionDocs via VideoKills, and in The Landing Magazine. Jessye currently works as an Educator and Program Instructor at the Museum of the Moving Image, and teaches with like-minded organizations around NYC. She graduated from Emerson College with a B.A. in Visual and Media Arts, with a concentration in film production and photography.
