Kalim Armstrong is a filmmaker who is drawn to stories of people living on the fringe of mainstream culture. His work has taken him to the Norwegian mountains to document soldiers training for winter warfare, across Europe filming roadies on a rock tour, through the streets of New York City following the lives of bike messengers, as well as creating quiet portraits of artists living off the grid in America. He is co-directing The Pass it on Project, a feature documentary about how race and racism is discussed in public education. He is the director of the underground cooking show The Dante Fried Chicken Show and was a 2009 recipient of the Princess Grace Film Honorarium. Although Kalim works primarily as a director and cinematographer he understands how a filmmaker today has to have an understanding of all aspects of production to work as a freelancer today. Kalim worked at DCTV for several years as a Video Engineer and Systems Administrator and had the opportunity to apply his technical skills to HD productions like DCTV's Baghdad ER and Alive Day.

Kalim received a BFA, in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2001 and is a MFA candidate at the Integrated Media Arts program at Hunter College.
