Stephen Kurpis is a freelance audio engineer and producer whose music work has appeared on boutique classical music labels, Spin, the TriBeCa Film Festival (by way of the NYT) and Motherboard. In addition to music, he's carved a niche for himself as a swiss army knife engineer by recording voice-over for Nick Jr., audio post mixing for independent music videos and films, recording audio books for Simon & Schuster, live streaming conferences for the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, and sound design for independent video games. His term as Assistant Operations Manager of Dubway Studios consisted of the maintenance of a multi-room audio post and music facility, management of client relations, and the training of staff. He recently opened up his own Bushwick overdubbing studio, Vitruvian Sound NYC, to satisfy the music, voiceover, and post-production needs of his ever-expanding client base. He continues to maintain contact with half a dozen recording studios, of various sizes, that he has worked in to ensure that his clients are able to best access the diverse audio scene of New York; all while maximizing their budgets. His career passion project is his personally hand-crafted binaural microphone, dubbed Ramses the Great, which he hauls around to unique acoustic environments to capture immersive live performances.
