Online Workshop: Developing Your Story

Sliding Scale: $20-50

To support our community during this time, we are reducing all prices. You have a great idea for a documentary, and maybe even some great footage. But how does it fit together? Are you telling a clear or most impactful story? Discuss different ways of shaping documentary films, including three-act structure, theme, plot, and character arcs, and discuss specific films as case studies. In the second session, you will then have up to 15 minutes each to discuss your own documentary stories in development or early production, and solicit feedback from your fellow workshop peers and instructor.

This webinar is an online Producing clinic that will offer invaluable knowledge from a working professional in an online discussion setting.

Topics include:

  • Exposition
  • Theme
  • Plot and Character
  • Access to Characters and Story
  • Ways to Structure A Documentary
  • Your Point of View as a Director
  • Character and Conflict
  • Student Projects as Case Studies

Size: 8 students | Duration: 4 hrs

Materials: You will need a computer or other device that can connect to the internet and support Zoom video conferencing.
