Looking at Lenses (Online)

Whether you’re looking to make your close-ups pop in shallow focus or give your wides the detail they deserve, it’s all about the glass. This workshop will go over related terminology and examples of images produced by a variety of lenses. You’ll learn about lens selection for different cinematic styles and shooting scenarios, and discuss how camera setups relate.

This is an online Production workshop at the Extensions level.

Topics include:

  • Standard, Prime, Zoom and Wide-Angle Lenses
  • Lens Speed and Aperture
  • Focus
  • Focal Length and Compression
  • Mounts, Adaptors and Accessories
  • Camera Shooting Techniques and Placement

Capacity: 8 students | Duration: 8 hrs

Prerequisite(s): Camera Fundamentals or equivalent experience is required.

Materials: You will need a computer or other device that can connect to the internet and support Zoom video conferencing. If you have a video camera and/or lenses at home, you are welcome to have them handy for this workshop.
