Audio Storytelling: Podcasts and Soundscapes

Give your eyes a break and create non-fiction audio. Audio stories can take on different formats from journalism to documentary, and podcasts to experimental stories. With your basic audio production and post-production skills, learn to plan, record and edit aural material such as interviews, field recordings and sound effects to make your own imageless story.

  • Interviewing Options
  • Ambient Sound and Sound Sources
  • Preparing for Recording Sessions
  • Field Gear
  • Producing a Story
  • Assembling a Story
  • Exporting for Web

Capacity: 6 students | Duration: 12 hrs

Prerequisite(s): Audio Fundamentals and Pro Tools or equivalent experience is required.

Required: Students must bring their own personal hard drive. We recommend it meets the following minimum criteria:

  • 100GB free space
  • 7200 RPM
  • Mac Compatible
  • USB3 or Thunderbolt connection (recommended), Firewire 800 (possible)

Materials: Aside from a hard drive, we provide all equipment and are committed to a 2:1 student to camera ratio. Each student will be equipped with a 27-inch iMac with 5K retina display running Pro Tools 12. Personal equipment is not permitted.

All DCTV Workshops have limited enrollment and require pre-registration.
By enrolling you verify you have basic Mac OS X literacy and have read and agree to the prerequisites above and our Workshops Policies.
