Young Women of Cinema

We want to give young women filmmakers the support to share their stories, make films, get jobs and be heard!

Women aren’t getting enough opportunities behind or in front of the camera. Of the top 100 grossing films of 2018, women represented:

  • 4% of directors
  • 15% of writers
  • 3% of cinematographers
  • 18% of producers
  • 18% of executive producers
  • 14% of editors

DCTV Youth Media's Young Women of Cinema program is a 6-12month intensive program that provides an advanced level of video production training with an extensive focus on storytelling throughout the production process. Participants are a diverse and dynamic group of 10-12 young female professionals who are ready to take their careers to the next level.
